Lieberkuehnia spec., division
The photomicrographs on this page show the what happened with a new cell after it had divided.
16:59:02 This is the situation when I saw these cells for the first time. The naked cell is the new cell, the so called Schwärmer. It has a number of granulopodia which seems to bee in contact with those of the old cell.
17:00:57 The same situation in Phase Contrast.
17:08:15 The young cell retracts most of its granulopodia.
17:15:02 A short lobopodium indicates the place where the tube and inner septum is build. The new build shell is faintly visible.
17:24:43 The new shell gets more visible.
20:38:45 The new shell is finished.
