Genus Penardeugenia Deflandre, 1958

 

Diagnosis: Test round; with triangular, embedded siliceous plates, 2 µm long, in rows; with siliceous spines 10 µm long projecting between plates. Vesicular nucleus. Size: 25 to 35 µm diameter. Pseudostome: flexible.
Type species: Penardeugenia bathybioticus (Penard, 1904).

 

Ecology: herbivorous. Fresh water, deep oligotrophic lakes, on bottom.

 

Remarks: Monospecific. Other names: Pamphagus bathybioticus, Eugenia bathybioticus (homonym, was replaced by Deflandre (1958). Ref. Penard (1904).
