Amoeba with winglike extensions (arrowed) – fresh water, the Netherlands

Diagnosis: Locomotive form irregular, usually broad elliptical; broad hyaline anterior margin with short blunt digiform subpseudopdia. Length of cell 40-50 µm. Parts of the hyaline margin flow alongs both sides to the posterior end where they are retracted and change into trailing filaments before they are absorbed in the main body mass.

Habitat: Freshwater, the Netherlands.
