Clathrella foreli var. minor
Clathrella ‘quadratus’ Crailoo

Clathrella ‘quadratus’, small specimen

Remarks: This is a very small dice-shaped specimen, about 4.4 µm (only the body without scales!) in diameter. Scales are about 6 µm in diameter, the nucleus is c. 4 µm. I found one specimen in a pond in Crailoo, the Netherlands (2012) between algae.
I have only seen one specimen, which was much smaller than the ones with 6 scales which I found before. Probably it is another species or a variety.

Clathrella ‘quadratus’, a ‘normal’ specimen (cell body 10 µm) compared in size with the much smaller specimen (4.4 µm), described on this page. The scale bar is the same for both micrographs.
