Clathrella ‘vegrandis’

Diagnosis: Plasmabody spherical, surrounded by a number of hyaline, colorless, bowl-shaped scales, loosely attached to each other. Filopodia extend through gaps between three scales. One vesicular nucleus, one contratile vacuole observed.

Dimensions: Cell body c. 5.5-9 µm. Scales 5-8 µm in diameter.

Ecology: Peat bogs, Laegieskamp and Diepveen, the Netherlands (2012).

These specimens were present in a sample from the Rotes Wasser, a moor area in Germany. There were many specimens and all were of the same size. The plasm body was about 6-7 µm in diameter with scales of 5-6 µm in diameter.
