Genus Subulamoeba Bovee, 1953
Diagnosis: Morphologically similar to Oscillosignum but with more pointed pseudopodia. Locomotive form normally between 30 and 70 µm. Pseudopodia, usually paired, extending from cell periphery; sometimes these pseudopodia have flattened tips. During rapid locomotion the cell becomes awl- shaped, and longer, with one broad-based, active, conical pseudopodium. In this configuration, the posterior of the cell is wider than the anterior portion. No posterior uroid. Cytoplasm granular with a few crystals. Nucleus spherical with small endosomal granules. Rarely binucleate.
Type species. Subulamoeba saphirina (Penard, 1902)
Habitat: Freshwater.
