Sphenoderia sphaerica

Sphenoderia sphaerica Playfair, 1917

Diagnosis: Shell almost spherical, very slightly compressed, side-view ovate-subglobose, end broadly oval; in front-view circular, truncate anteriorly. Pseudostome a mere slit at the end of an invaginated, structureless collar. Scales distinct, oval, about five across the face, overlapping, all about the same size but irregularly disposed.

Dimensions: Length: 57-63 µm, breadth 57 µm, collar 21-23 µm; scales 20-13 µm.

Habitat: Sphagnum, Australia.
