Physochila corniculata (Jung, 1942) Kosakyan et al. 2023
Basionym: Nebela corniculata Jung, 1942

Diagnosis: Pseudostome almost circular, with relatively little developed collar; the aperture thus does not follow the flattening. The shell structure is completely identical to P. tenella. The outline of the shell is irregularly bumped in the fundus section. In the only specimen on which this description is based, a short squirrel emerges from the rear side of the shell; a second one is indicated by a bulge, which, however, is not transformed into a tube. It is believed that P. corniculata has the ability to form multiple processes.

Dimensions: Length 77 µm, width 61 µm, aperture 20 µm.

Ecology: Moss in rainforest. Chili.

Remarks: Jung (1942), translated: “Despite intensive searches, I was only able to examine this single specimen in preparation W 162, which housed the species. Since nothing has ever been reported about pricked representatives of the tenella group, I would like to raise the form discussed above to a separate species for the time being, although apart from this squirrel formation and the irregularly shaped fundus surface caused by it, there are no differences to P. tenella. The weaker bulge thickness of the collar can also be found in P. tenella.”

The problem is that the description is based on a single specimen. The status of this species is questionable.
