Filamoeba nolandi Page, 1967

Diagnosis: Outline of amoebae varying from semi-circular to elongate spatulate, sometimes multipolar with two or more usually fan-shaped hyaloplasmic lobes, sometimes flattened into thin sheet; usually uninucleate; few to more than 15 contractile vacuoles; cysts smooth, round, irregularly ovoid or reniform, rather thick-walled, with little or no splitting of wall into separate layers.

Dimensions: 15—50 µm; nucleus 3.5—5.5 µm; cyst 8—15 µm.

Ecology: Freshwater.

Geographical distribution: North America, Europe.
