Alabasta longicollis (Penard, 1890) Duckert et al., 2018
Diagnosis: Shell pyriform, very elongated (3 times as long as wide), transparent, very little compressed, embedded with oval or round hyaline, very small scales of the same size, with a tendency to overlap one another. Fundus rounded, test with a fairly long neck, slightly flared at the mouth; the latter slightly split on the sides. No side pores.
Dimensions: Shell length 120—140 μm, width 40—45 μm.
Habitat: In Sphagnum.
Geographical distribution: Wiesbaden, Germany.
Remarks: Kosakyan et al., 2025: “This is very rarely reported and problematic species. Penard (1980) noted that it could represent a variety of Nebela collaris, and mentioned some synonymous names, including Nebela barbata (Penard, 1890) or Nebela americana auct. non Taranek (Penard, 1902), which we do not believe to be appropriate for this species. Although the species name is reported from many geographical regions, considering the taxonomic confusion, the validity of these reports remains unclear. This species was placed into the genus Alabasta (Duckert et al., 2018) based on the strongly curved pseudostome.”
