Basionym: Nebela vitrea Penard, 1899

Diagnosis: Shell large, oval, sometimes bumpy, narrowed at the mouth, compressed, very clear, hyaline or rarely lemon-yellow, formed of flat, amorphous, thin scales, loosely touching each other by their edges and probed to each other by smaller, internal plates, stuck to the angles of junction of the large scales. Terminal mouth, rather narrow, elliptical in its outline, made toothed by the few scales which border it, bottom of the shell wide and rounded.

Dimensions: Length 170-200 µm.

Habitat: Freshwater.
