Microchlamys patella
Disk made by Gobiella in the cell wall of an algae

Genus Gobiella Cienkowski, 1881

Diagnosis: Medium to large vampyrellids penetrating algal cells by removing a disk-shaped part of the cell wall. Distinguished from Vampyrella by having irregular cysts.

Microchlamys patella
Empty cells with holes and a disk which was left behind by Gobiella. It is remarkable that this was the only disk observed in the culture. It is not clear what happened with the other disks.
