Padaungiella cordiformis (Heinis, 1914) Kosakyan et al., 2025

Diagnosis: Shell lageniform in broad view, compressed, with an elongated distinct neck; very characteristic in profile: elongated neck, main part of the test rounded, gradually tapering to a pointed fundus (originally described as “pointed heart-shaped, like a lance”). Shell composed mostly of elliptical plates (including denticulate apertural plates of Euglypha).

Dimensions: According to Heinis (1914): Shell length 128—135 µm.

Habitat: Sphagnum and other mosses.

Geographical distribution: Asia: Indonesia, Nepal; South America: Argentina, Chile, Colombia; Central America: Costa Rica, Guatemala; Europe: Bosnia-Herzegovina, Romania.
