
Rhizaspis spec., with small spines
Rhizaspis spec.
Diagnosis: These small specimens were found by Angie Opitz, Austria, in a seven month old sample from a peat bog. They were all about 29-38 µm long, mean 32 µm. They were not so compressed as typical for the genus. Maybe it’s a Lecythium species.



Membrane, arrowed. Typical paired spherical granules, which can also be found in Lecythium granulatus. A smaller granule seems to be attached to a larger one.

Air dried specimen, with smaller arrowed spines or granules. This specimen is the same as the one in SEM below.
