Bodenwerder, Weser

In October 2012 I collected a sample from the bank of the River Weser, near the old railway bridge in the town of Bodenwerder in central Germany. The sample was taken from a large stone just below the water surface. At home I prepared several moist‑chamber mounts, which yielded some beautiful and unexpected amoeboids:

  • Paramphitrema lemanense
  • Cyphoderia calceolus
  • Cyphoderia laevis
  • Cochliopodium granulatum
  • Leptophrys sp.
  • Polychaos dubium
  • Rhizamoeba caerulea
  • Thecamoeba striata
  • Penardeugenia spec., probably new species
  • Limnofila spp.
  • Microgromia sp.
  • Lecythium granulatus
  • Lithocolla spec.
  • Microcometes paludosa
  • Acanthocystis aculeata
  • Nuclearia flavocapsulata
  • Chlamydaster laciniatus
  • Centropyxis ecornis
  • Difflugia varians
  • Euglypha acanthophora
