Heleopera penardi Bonnet & Thomas, 1955

Diagnosis: Shell small, not or slightly compressed, except in the pseudostomal area. In cross-section almost circular in the middle part of the shell. Pseudostome straight as in H. petricola, but generally more open, especially in encysted specimens. Cyst oval, relatively small. Shell pink, pink-violet or violet-brown, covered with small and amorphous plates.

Dimensions: Length 68-83 µm; width 48-53 µm, thickness 41-48 µm.

Habitat: Sphagnum swamps.
