Lacogromia cassipara, 353 µm long
Lacogromia cassipara Siemensma et al., 2017
morphotype B
This large Lacogromia cassipara was present in a sample from the Laegieskamp, the Netherlands, 2016. I found over 100 specimens in an old sample which I kept in front of a window. All specimens had 1-8 nuclei and some had a peduncle which was hard to detect because of the dark color of the test wall.

Shell 220 µm long

Shell 150 µm, with arrowed collar

Above: Shell 560 µm long. Below: the same specimen, but disturbed and contracted to 455 µm.

Shell 164 µm, dorsal view with collar.

The same specimen as above, but now in side view: c = collar; p = peduncle; x = large xenosomes.

The same specimen as above, but now compressed by the cover slip. Nucleus 24 µm.

Shell 170 µm long, side view; small peduncle

The same specimen as above, but in dorsal view. Peduncle is much broader now (between arrows)

Shell 280 µm long; f = food; v = vacuole. Notice the size of the food compared with the diameter of the aperture.

The same test, but now with 7 nuclei visible, 4 are arrowed.

Left: nucleus, 16 µm; right: compressed aperture
