Nebela pulchra
N. pulchra, after Bartos, 1938

Nebela pulchra  Bartos, 1936

Diagnosis: Shell pyriform in broad view, slightly elongated, with three little conical protuberances on the fundus of the test, 7 μm in length and 10 μm in breadth. Shell composed of a loose network of large, irregularly arranged hexagonal plates, with numerous narrow rectangular plates filling the free spaces between them. Pseudostome elliptical in frontal view.

Dimensions: According to Bartos (1936): Shell length 92 µm; width 60 µm; aperture 21 µm.

Habitat: Green mosses.

Geographical distribution: Europe: Slovakia.

Remarks: Nebela pulchra by shape very much resembles N. guttata, from which it differs only by the linear aperture. Despite the similar morphology, these two species are clearly genetically different (sequence divergence up to 12%). See Kosakyan et al., 2012.
