Sorodiplophrys stercorea (Cienkowski, 1876) Olive & Dykstra, 1988

Diagnosis. Sorocarps on cow and horse dung, golden yellow, 100-430 µm diameter, sometimes compound and with smaller secondary sori, with firmly gelatinous basal core of mostly degenerate cells in  a firm-gelatinous matrix, the latter covered by glistening mucous mass of sorocytes; sorocytes elliptical, 2.4-4.8 X 4.8-9.6 m, uninucleate and with one to several prominent central yellow globules up to 1.7 µm diameter; sorocytes enlarging to become vegatative cells that are variable in shape, measure 4.8-9.6 X 7.2-16.8µand produce fine, variously branched ectoplasmic extensions from polar hyaline areas; aggregating in single file or several abreast to form the sorocarps.
