Diagnosis: shell ovoid, compressed; aperture with a short collar, one lip slightly longer than the other one; shell composed of oval siliceous scales; aperture region with much smaller scales; aperture scales not denticulated; nucleus vesicular, filopodia.

Habitat: In mosses, sphagnum and in soils.
