Velamentofex spec.

Remarks: In 2022, I found one specimen of  this Velamentofex species in a dune lake near Castricum, the Netherlands. The cell was hidden in a remnant of an insect, its size about 300 µm long, tubular, with an organic-walled membranous test with a single aperture. The test was hyaline and colorless, flexible, smooth and delicate. From a long pseudopodial peduncle some long branching and anastomosing granuloreticulopodia radiated through a hole in the insect remnant. The cytoplasm was in continuous streaming, with many small granules, globules, food vacuoles and nuclei. The amount of nuclei was difficult to count, but possibly about 40. The nuclei were spherical, commonly 6 µm in diameter and each nucleus had a nucleolar layer close to the nuclear membrane.
