Pseudopontigulasia gessneri
Pseudopontigulasia gessneri , after Van Oye, 1952

Pseudopontigulasia gessneri   Van Oye, 1952

Diagnosis: Van Oye (1952) described a new genus and new species Pseudopontigulasia gessneri which is in my opinion a Pseudonebela species. Van Oye wrote that it cannot be a Pseudonebela, because it doesn’t have a nebeloid structure. However, specimens without such a structure were recorded by Lahr and Gomes e Suza (2011) and Siemensma and Opitz (2014).

Dimensions: Length 62 µm; width 48 µm; neck 15 µm; aperture 20 µm (n=1).

Habitat: Freshwater, Potamogeton. Andes, 3600 m., Venezuela.
