Planhoogenraadia asturica Bonnet & Gomez-Sanchez 1984

Diagnosis: Shell large, colorless, yellow or ochre, with simple cryptostome. In dorsal view, the test has a navicular shape, a rounded apertural end and a tapered but not acute fundus. The dorsal side has a slight hull-form. In lateral view, the test is very wide, about 1/3 of the length. The invagination between visor and belly is of variable depth, 1/5 to 1.3 of the width. Ventral lip of the pseudostome very little folded inwards. In ventral view, the aperture is elliptical or semi-elliptical, depending on the angle of observation, but always visible. The wall is covered with normal siliceous elements being larger on the ventral side.

Dimensions: Length 95—110 µm; width 49—59 µm; aperture 18—34 µm.

Ecology: Forest soils with little acid humus.

Geographical distribution: Spain, Asturias.
