Diagnosis: Shell lageniform, covered with square siliceous platelets arranged more or less in regular rows, and reinforced at the corners, sometimes on the edges, by smaller platelets most often also square; lip simple and not reinforced.
Dimensions: According to Van Oye (1949): Shell length 170—192 µm; width 85—115 µm; Length/Width ratio 1.67 to 2.00; aperture 10—41 µm; length of the neck 51—61 µm, width 45—53 um.
Ecology: Freshwater and mosses.
Geographical distribution: Java, Indonesia.
