Diagnosis: Shell ovate or pyriform, of chitinoid appearance, with a different number of small transparent often curved spines, which are sometimes formed by protruding fragments of diatoms. Pseudostome round.
Dimensions: Stepanek (1957): Shell length 141-173 µm; width 120– 150 µm.
Ecology: Freshwater. Europe.
