Diagnosis: Test ovate or pyriform, of chitinoid appearance, with a different number of small transparent often curved spines, which are sometimes formed by protruding fragments of diatoms. Pseudostome round.

Dimensions: Length 141-173 µm, width 120– 150 µm.

Ecology: Freshwater. Europe.
