Difflugia pentagonostoma Chardez, 1964

Diagnosis: Shell spherical with a slight neck forming a fairly regular pentagonal pseudostome with rounded corners. The shell wall is formed of an abundant chitinous cement of yellow, brownish tint encrusting numerous reworked diatoms; long diatoms, generally undisturbed, are stuck on the lower part of the theca perpendicular to it, and give this organism a very characteristic shaggy appearance.

Dimensions: According to Chardez (1964): Shell length 100—110 µm; aperture 45—50 µm.

Habitat: Freshwater.

Geographical distribution: Central Africa.
