Diagnosis: Spherically symmetrical heliozoa with a large central nucleus. May have a layer of peripheral vacuoles after feeding. Axonemes terminate on the nucleus.
Several species; freshwater.
Type species: Actinophrys sol Ehrenberg, 1830.
