Hyalosphenia humicola Decloitre, 1973

Diagnosis: Differs from all other Hyalosphenia species in shape and size. Shell ovoid, rounded in broad view, with a very short and compressed neck. Shell transparent, colorless, with some foreign elements attached. At the short neck-level, pseudostome margin appearing shiny in some parts under LM. Shell lacking structure in LM, appearing amorphous.

Dimensions: Shell length 65—70 µm; width 50 µm; depth 10 µm; aperture 23—25 µm.

Habitat: Pine forest litter.

Geographical distribution: Europe: France, Sweden.
