Basionym: Hyalosphenia schoutedeni var. rotunda Van Oye, 1958

Diagnose. Shell differs from the type by its smaller size, and almost circular shape in broad view.

Dimensions: According to Van Oye (1958): Shell length 20 μm; width 17 μm.

Habitat: Freshwater, wetland. Sphagnum mosses, pH 3.8.

Geographical distribution: Africa: Congo.
