Pelomyxa cf flava
Diagnosis: Slow moving pelomyxoids with ovoid, cylindrically or irregularly shaped bodies. The cytoplasm is transparent and brownish-green due to inclusions. Hyaloplasm sometimes in bulges. Nuclei are of a granular type and the fragmented nucleolar material is located along the periphery of the nucleus. Flagella are immobile. Endosymbionts are represented by large and thinner rodlike bacteria. Glycogen bodies present.
Dimensions: The size of the cells ranges from 100 to 600 µm. Nuclei 20-27 µm
Ecology: This species resembles P. flava, but it is much larger and has more nuclei, about 7 to 12. I found it in Crailoo, which is a small artificial lake, mesotrophic, up to 1 meter deep, with a thin layer of organic sediment. The food mainly consists of green algae, both small and large.
