Difflugia leidyi Wailes, 1913
Diagnosis: Shell more or less pyroid, not compressed, with short broad neck; shell composed of an organic material, embedded with quartz particles and diatom frustules, mixed with some yellow, brown and black detritus particles. Median part of the shell ornamented with usually two bended tubular horns, giving it the impression of a Viking helmet.
Dimensions: Wailes (1913): Shell length 92-116 µm.
Ecology: Peat bogs, Sphagnum.
