Apodera vas (Certes, 1889) Loeblich & Tappan, 1961

Diagnosis: Shell sub-spherical or ellipsoidal, compressed, constriction between body and swollen neck which tapers from its junction with the body towards the aperture, neck. Aperture oval slightly arched. Shell composed of collected or predated euglyphid idiosomes.

Dimensions: Certes (1889): 150—170 µm; Wailes (1913): 130—155 µm; Jung (1942): 108—163 µm; Hoogenraad and De Groot (1955): 117—173 µm; Zapata and Rudolph (1986): 80—90 µm; Smith and Wilkinson (2007): 90—210 µm; Zapata and Fernández (2008): 111—234 µm.

Ecology: Mosses, often Sphagnum. South America, Central America, Australia, New Zealand, Java, Mexico, Hawaii and Africa.

Remarks: Apodera vas is closely related to Padaungiella lageniformis.
