Basionym: D. elegans tricornis Jung, 1936
Diagnosis: Shell relatively large, short, pyriform, tapering towards the pseudostome. It is characterized by three spikes on the aboral region, the surface is rough, built of medium and large mineral grains. The pseudostome is round. Similar to D. bicornis.
Dimensions: Jung (1936): Shell length 110–130 µm; width 65–82 µm, pseudostome diameter 40 µm.
Ecology: Freshwater.
