Leptomyxa flabellata (Goodey, 1915) Smirnov et al., 2016

Diagnosis: Cells varying in size, c. 50—500 µm, according to nuclear number, but often toward lower end of range, exceptionally larger; number of nuclei c. 10, rarely more than 50; double walled cysts, but size like the amoebae, very variable; mitochondria round or cylindrical with tubular cristae; golgi arranged as stacks

Dimensions: Length in locomotion 50—500 µm; cysts 25—65 µm (mean 40 µm); nucleus 14—17 µm in diameter.

Habitat: Freshwater.
