Hyalosphenia savoiei Chardez, 1978

Diagnose. Shell in broad view elongated, round in the aboral end, and circular in frontal view. A partial narrowing of the test delineates a neck and corresponds to a slight flattening which increases near the pseudostome. Pseudostome oval-elliptical in frontal view. Shell entirely chitinoid, smooth, and hyaline. Cytoplasm clear, finely punctuated, with small green inclusions. A single lobose pseudopodium.

Dimensions: According to Chardez (1978): Shell length 39—42 μm; 25 μm; depth (in profile) 23—25 μm; (section approximately circular), aperture 15—18 μm × 8 μm.

Ecology: Marine littoral fine sand, just above the high tide limit.

Geographical distribution: Oostende, Belgium.
