Family Lesquereusiidae Jung, 1942

Diagnosis: Lobose testate amoeba whit shells of endogenous rod-like, nail-shaped or rectangular siliceous plates to which mineral particles may be added.

Remarks: It is questionable whether this family is a monophyletic unit. Lesquereusia shows affinities in shell shape and cement structure with Lagenodifflugia, as does Netzelia with certain Difflugia spp. The rectangular shell plates of Quadrulella, Microquadrula and Pomoriella resemble those of the Paraquadrulidae, although the latter are from calcite and have an unstructured cement!
