
Nebela acolla Cash, 1909
Diagnosis: Shell broadly elliptic, broader than long, without neck, the aperture, ventrally situated, being invisible, its presence (when the test is lying on its side) indicated by a slight thickening of the lower margin. The test in face view narrowly ovate, the orifice, presented directly to the eye, appearing as an oval slit in the chitinous membrane; structure thin and transparent, and with a surfacing of minute circular or polygonal plates, scarcely touching at the edges. The plasma, and its contents unknown.
Dimensions: Narrowest diameter 60 µm; width (or longest diameter) 70 µm; width in narrow lateral view 35 µm.
Habitat: Sphagnum.
Geographical distribution: Europe: Romania, UK; Asia: Thailand.
Remarks: Cash and Hopkinson (1909) emphasize the lack of a neck.
