Nebela subsphaerica  Van Oye, 1956

Diagnosis: Shell circular or almost circular, compressed, with a short neck, ornamented with a thin organic lip and with small lateral pores on each side that are difficult to observe. Shell yellow or brownish, composed of ovoid or circular test plates, and covered by a thick layer of organic cement giving the impression of a homogeneous structure. Neck very short, pseudostome linear in broad view, and surrounded by a thin organic rim.

Dimensions: According to Kosakyan et al. (2025): Shell length 100–121 µm; width 83-109.4 µm; aperture 22.9–26 µm.

Habitat: Sphagnum tarn with acidic pH.

Geographical distribution: New Zealand.
