Placocista minima Decloitre, 1955 *)
Basionym: Placocista glabra Pénard var. minima Decloitre, 1955
Diagnosis: Test small, broadly ovoid to slightly rectangular, corresponding in general outline to P. glabra sensu Pénard but consistently and markedly reduced in size—approximately half that of the typical form. The pseudostome is bordered by a ring of smaller plates, sometimes wider than high, never denticulate. At low magnification the pseudostome may resemble that of Euglypha, but high magnification reveals smooth, non‑toothed plates characteristic of Placocista.
Dimensions: Decloitre (1955): Length: ~50 µm; Width: ~28 µm.
Ecology: Collected from a subterranean habitat: the Grotte des Singes (Ségéa, Guinea). The variety was rare in earlier A.O.F. material but occurred in notable numbers in the samples examined for the Speologica africana survey (1955).
Distribution: Known from the type locality, Grotte des Singes at Ségéa, Guinea (Decloitre, 1955). The taxon appears uncommon or easily overlooked due to its small size.
*) Taxonomic note: Placocista glabra Pénard var. minima Decloitre, 1955 is changed to Placocista minima Decloitre, 1955,
