Pseudawerintzewia orbistoma  Schönborn, Foissner and Meisterfeld 1983

Diagnosis: Shell clearly pyriform or cone-shaped, in cross section circular. Pseudostome circular or elliptical, at the broadest pole. Shell covered with amorphous siliceous particles embedded in brown chitinous cement. The wall is gradually thicker towards the pseudostome.

Dimensions: Length 69–92 µm, width 51–73 µm, pseudostome 11-18 µm (n=20). My measurements on specimens from Miljacka Cave, Croatia: Length 81-83 µm; width 61-65 µm; L/W ratio 1.3 (n=3, all with circular aperture).

Ecology: Soil. Jena, Germany and Baumgarten, Austria. In sediment from Miljacka Cave,  Croatia (Najla Baković, Ferry Siemensma, unpublished).
