Basionym: Difflugia globularis var. sphaerica Chardez, 1956

Diagnosis: Shell wide-rounded, lateral sides sharply tapering towards the pseudostome; no clear neck. Shell covered with large grains of sand. Pseudostome round.

Dimensions: Chardez (1956): Shell length 170—175  µm; pseudostome 130—135. Ogden (1983): Length 133—204 µm; width 138—193 µm; pseudostome 79—113 µm.

Habitat: Freshwater.

Geographical distribution: Europe.
