Difflugia kabylica
D. kabylica, after Gauthier-Lièvre and Thomas, 1958

Difflugia kabylica  Gauthier-Lièvre & Thomas, 1958

Diagnosis: Shell ovoid with a well-defined circular collar. Pseudostome bordered with regular mineral grains forming a necklace; these grains are rarely missing, but when they are lacking, the base of the collar is marked by a strangulation of the test and the free edge tends to flare slightly outwards. Some populations show transparent forms with few xenosomes and a well-formed neck; but these specimens show an alteration of the contour of the pseudostome which is no longer perfectly circular but is vaguely polygonal. Shells with many xenosomes are abundant and often with some large stones.

Dimensions: Gauthier-Lièvre and Thomas (1958): Shell length 53 µm; width 48 µm.

Habitat: Freshwater. Africa.
