Difflugia ovalisina Beyens and Chardez, 1994
Diagnosis: Shell oval, with a circular cross-section. The aperture is truncated at a right angle; the border shows a slight swelling (rim), sometimes slightly recurved to the interior. The organic cement is transparent with a yellowish tint, encrusted with small flattish pieces, and with a few siliceous elements and diatoms added. Cytoplasm limpid, lobose pseudopodia, spherical nucleus.
Dimensions: Beyens and Chardez (1994): Shell length: 25-29 µm; shell diameter: 18-28 µm; pseudostome diameter: 9-15 µm; height of rim: 1.5-2.2 µm; diameter of nucleus: 15 µm (n=8).
Habitat: Freshwater. Devon Island (Chardez and Beyens, 1988). Europe.
Remarks: This small species resembles Difflugia saxicola Penard, but differs mainly from the latter by the aperture which is truncated at a right angle and provided with a slight, mostly recurved rim.
