Diagnosis: Body oval to limaciform; spheroid when floating; pseudopodia numerous, conical; ectoplasm clear, usually with cils; endoplasm with food vacuoles, spherules and large clear globules; nucleus large, with fragmented nucleolar material; contractile vacuole present.
Dimensions: Spherical forms 64-160 µm in diameter; creeping forms 152-340 by 60-220 µm; cyst about 160 µm in diameter; nucleus 26-36 µm.
Habitat: in the ooze of ponds and ditches.
