Valkanovia elegans Schönborn, 1964

Diagnosis: Shell slender, converging toward the pseudostome, compressed and entirely hyaline. Pseudostome elliptical, smooth-edged, not occupying the entire front. Scales reach the edge of the pseudostome; they are elongated-oval and appear hexagonal due to the superimposition. The nucleus has a centrally located nucleolus. The plasma is zoned. The pseudopodia are filopodia.

Dimensions: Length 39-41 μm; width 25-26 μm; thickness 17-18 μm.

Habitat: Regular in the soil of beech and pine forests. Europe.
