Difflugia stechlinensis  Schönborn, 1962

Diagnosis: Shell with parallel straight sides, hyaline, covered with small quartz granules, which cover the shell incompletely. Pseudostome round, never surrounded by ring-shaped stones or scales. Protoplasm does not fill the entire shell space. Nucleus spherical with central nucleolus.

Dimensions: Schönborn (1962): Shell length 29-44 µm; width 22-39 µm; pseudostome 10-15 µm in diameter.

Ecology: Freshwater. In the deep of Great Stechlin Lake. It is ecologically different from D. pulex living in the same waters exclusively in the growth of submerged plants.
