Diagnosis: The shell is very large, hemispherical in profile, rounded in plan. The ventral side is concave, in its center there is a five-lobed (less often three- or four-lobed) mouth, the diameter of which is almost a third of the shell diameter.

Dimensions: Shell diameter 335—400 µm; height 250—290 µm; diameter of aperture 115—155 µm.

Habitat: Freshwater.

Geographical distribution: Cortes Island, British Columbia, Canada, North America.
