Basionym: Arcella bathystoma Deflandre, 1928
Diagnosis: Shell shaped like a bumpy hemispherical dome with slightly rounded basilar angles. In dorsal view, circular or very slightly elliptical. In lateral view, the dome is a little angular, covered with irregular dimples and connected to the ventral side by a slightly rounded angle. Aperture rounded and very deeply invaginated; invagination often exceeding mid-height of the shell, showing a regular curve. Shell reddish-yellow-brown with extremely fine areolation. Two typical nuclei.
Dimensions: According to González-Miguéns et al. (2021): Shell diameter 55—62 µm; height 20—25 µm; aperture 19—21 µm; apertural invagination 11—14 µm high; H/D ratio 0.39-0.41.
Ecology: Among mosses and phanerogam debris submerged in a transitional bog.
Geographical distribution: France, Haute Savoie.
