Diagnosis: The shell is transparent and spherical, with a rough surface primarily embedded with diatom valves. The xenosomes are packed tightly, often overlapping. The pseudostome is large, comprising more than one-third of the width. It is rounded, although its contour may be uneven due to protruding flaps.
Dimensions: According to Gauthier-Lièvre and Thomas (1958): Shell length 40—80 µm; width 40—73 µm; pseudostome 18—51 µm.
Habitat: Freshwater.
Geographical distribution: Africa.
