Cryptodifflugia apiculata  (Cash, 1904)
Syn.: Difflugiella apiculata  Cash, 1904

Diagnosis: Shell ovoid, not laterally compressed, chitinous, smooth, transparent, colorless, and lacking mineral particles; aperture circular. Cytoplasm colorless.

Dimensions: Shell length 40 μm; shell width 28–30 μm.

Ecology: Freshwater; in Sphagnum mosses, wet green mosses, and on the surface of aquatic algae and plants.

Distribution: Reported from England, Russia, Germany, and Romania.
